when i was initially working on this site, i had been doing it locally on my computer, which meant i was only able to use local links i.e. "/css/dark.css/" which was really difficult to work with if there were any changes made to the structure of anything else on the site
as the site grew to use more dynamic content which would not work on my system, and the site had already been published, it gradually began to make more sense for me to refactor things on the back end so that the links would be more predictable.

previously, the folders were structured like so:
- pages
-- about_me
-- lizbetstuck
-- projects
- css
- javascript

this would lead to clicking on links taking you to places such as
"https://elizabeth-void.co.uk/pages/about_me/lantalia/lantalia.html/"
while functional, i hope you can agree that this is ugly and a little confusing !!

so, i started to refactor the site over time, as it was a fairly daunting process (requiring me to edit basically every html file !!!)

now each page is its own folder with an index.html, allowing the links to instead be:
"https://elizabeth-void.co.uk/about-me/lantalia"
